The Role
At Rex, engineering integrity and safety are fundamental to everything we do. We are seeking suitability qualified and highly motivated engineering professionals to join the Rex Engineering team as Senior Base Engineer. The role is full-time, based in Cairns.

Reporting
This position reports to the Brisbane Line Maintenance Supervisor.
Position Responsibilities
- Ensuring compliance with engineering procedures and certification requirements in their area of responsibility;
- Monitoring and controlling costs associated with aircraft and GSE maintenance;
- Provide proactive leadership of the Cairns engineering activities;
- Participate in broader engineering leadership;
- Review in advance, planned maintenance activity to be performed by and to liaise with, third party maintenance providers;
- Ensure the serviceability of tooling and equipment and the management of a Preventative Maintenance/Service Program for Ground Support Equipment;
- Co-ordination of manpower, equipment, tooling, data and Aeronautical Products to ensure the timely completion of all maintenance activities;
- Carry out scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities on Rex Group aircraft and components within a maintenance team;
- Monitor, report on and participate in Workplace Health and Safety issues and directives;
- Investigative and resolve safety reports and audit findings
- Provide oversight of Rex Aeronautical product holdings in Cairns;
- Participate in aircraft recovery when necessary and;
- At all times, comply with the requirements, laid out in the Rex Part 145 MOE, Part 42 CMPM, and the Civil Aviation Safety Regulations.
Essential Selection Criteria
- Hold a CASA B1.1 or B2 licence and be eligible for Saab 340 type training;
- A demonstrated ability to perform aircraft and component maintenance, modification and troubleshooting in accordance with regulatory requirements, under minimal supervision whilst adhering to deadlines;
- Ability to travel to outports for aircraft recoveries;
- An operational understanding of Part 42,66 and 145 regulations and their application;
- General Aviation or Airline experience;
- A sound knowledge of aviation Quality Assurance (QA) procedures and documentation;
- Working knowledge of WHS regulatory requirements and procedures;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- A high level of motivation with a team-focused work ethic;
- Flexibility with working hours;
- Proven ability to manage a close-knit team, but also have an ability to work unsupervised
- A demonstrated ability to show initiative and;
- Meet the necessary requirements to hold an Aviation Security Identity Card and Airside Driving Licence.
